Atikameksheng Anishnawbek - The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is pleased to announce that a fourth office will soon be launched! The new office is located in Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, which is 20 minutes west of Sudbury. The occasion will be celebrated with a grand opening on June 9th, 2022 which includes an open house and free barbecue.
Local community members, Chiefs, and councilors are invited to attend and can look forward to meeting with OFNTSC’s Executive Director Melanie Debassige, as well as other members of senior management.
OFNTSC’s existing office locations include the head office in the Mississauga’s of the Credit First Nation, as well as service centres in Thunder Bay and Brantford, Ontario. The Atikameksheng Anishnawbek office will allow OFNTSC to expand the bases of its operations in Ontario’s North. The Thunder Bay office acts as a base for many of OFNTSC’s northern operations however, it is limited by the expansiveness of Ontario’s North. With the majority of First Nations communities being quite remote, a second office further to the east will give OFNTSC the opportunity to better serve these communities in a timely manner.
“Since its inception, the OFNTSC has believed that solutions to technical issues should come from, and be supported by First Nations peoples and communities,” said OFNTSC Executive Director, Melanie Debassige. “The opening of this new office in Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation further solidifies our commitment to helping First Nations communities achieve technical self sufficiency across the province. With this new location we will be able to better support communities in the region, and increase our accessibility to northern communities.”
The open house for the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek office will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 609 Gabode St, Naughton, ON from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, EST.
Be sure to RSVP by Friday, June 3rd and attend to be entered into a draw for prizes!
