Building our Nations, First!

The OFNTSC provides technical advisory services to First Nations in Ontario in the areas of Emergency Management Preparedness, Environment, Engineering, Fuel Systems Management, Fire and Safety, Housing, Infrastructure, Operations & Maintenance, and Water & Wastewater. These core services are at the heart and soul of our mission to help First Nations communities achieve technical self-reliance. 

Other projects and initiatives include our Circuit Rider Training Program, Asset Management, and Technical Career Youth Outreach to inform First Nations youth about the career opportunities available in the STEM fields.

History

In 1992 the Ontario Chiefs in Assembly, via resolution 93/13, mandated a Committee of Chiefs and Technical representatives to jointly develop the implementation of the revised model for Technical Services with Indigenous Services Canada (formerly Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.

Governance

During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, after nearly 25 years in operation, the OFNTSC implemented governance reforms with a view to ensuring the corporation is well positioned to advance the infrastructure-related interests of First Nations in Ontario.
